Since the launch of Partnerships for Wellbeing almost twenty years ago, volunteering has been at the heart of our charity. Our Community Transport drivers, our Health Walk leaders and our Board of Trustees – all are people who give their time and skills to make a difference to the lives of others. In the past year, as lockdown restrictions came and went and came again, our volunteers really stepped up. Our drivers continued to take people to medical and vaccination appointments and, as soon as group walking was permitted, our Health Walk leaders were back on the front foot, encouraging people to make and renew friendships while enjoying fresh air. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the volunteers on our Board of Directors, were ensuring the survival of our small charity so we could make plans to expand our services in the years ahead.
Our pilot Valued Volunteers project aims to acknowledge the work of our volunteers and thank them for all that they do for our communities. A number Highland businesses are coming forward to offer small discounts and we hope others will soon join them. We’ve also created our ‘Puffin Partners’ emblem to signify the spirit of caring and compassion that embodies what Partnerships for Wellbeing is all about.
